Lawrence Graham is an extremely ambitious firm where people are encouraged to develop their careers alongside the business. The place has a real buzz to it, which makes me look forward to coming in every day. It’s refreshingly different to be working with people who are enthusiastic about what they do.
The amount of responsibility we are given as trainees really surprised me. In my first seat, Private Capital, I was running my own files within the first few days of joining the department. Since then I’ve worked in Dispute Resolution and Corporate. The firm’s been extremely supportive, and I’ve been encouraged to attend as much training as possible. We were also given a 'buddy' in our first seat, who was there to answer any questions we had and generally help us settle in.
For anyone in their first year here, I would recommend trying to work for as many different fee earners as possible in your department. It helps to expose you to a wider range of work, and gives you a better flavour for the different types of work carried out in the department as a whole.
